Bitter Sweet Life (Hayat Bazen Tatlidir) is the story of Hayat, a history teacher at a top private school. Her job makes it financially possible for her little sister, Gözde to attend the school as a student. One day Hayat gets an urgent phone call saying her little sister is in danger at a party. Hayat arrives at the given address just in time to stop her unconscious sister from being raped by a fellow student. When Hayat confronts the boy's rich father about the incident he makes sure she loses her job. Hayat gets a new job at a state school where she faces corruption and has to fight the system in order to give her students a good education. With her cleverness and wits, Hayat manages to juggle her way around the money-grabbing school administration and both sisters eventually win the students' trust and hearts.
